Lighting design for healing and guidance

Zumtobel developed a comprehensive lighting concept that highlights the character of the building while simultaneously fulfilling functional requirements. Slim EQUALINE light lines in custom lengths stylishly guide through the corridors, while SLOTLIGHT pendant and recessed luminaires offer design diversity. In the patient rooms, modern downlights and integrated supply units ensure pleasant lighting that supports care, examination, and recovery.

Innovative lighting design enhances recovery and quality of work

The Beata Vergine Hospital in Mendrisio is implementing an innovative concept with its new south wing, placing people at the forefront. The goal was to create an atmosphere that fosters healing and well-being. With this in mind, a lighting concept was developed that unites functionality and aesthetics, benefiting both patients and staff.

High-quality lighting solutions for efficiency, design, and well-being

Among others, EQUALINE light lines, SLOTLIGHT pendant luminaires, ONDARIA round luminaires, and the TECTON continuous-row lighting system were used. These products are distinguished by high energy efficiency, longevity, and an appealing design. The modular supply units offer various lighting modes and integrate technical components invisibly, contributing to a calming atmosphere.

Sustainability and technology in focus

The lighting concept employs energy-efficient LED technology and lighting controls to minimize power consumption. Sensors automatically adjust the lighting to the needs, offering additional comfort. The outdoor lighting with products from the brands Thorn and acdc ensures safety and highlights the building's architecture.swiss-architects.com+3

"Building a hospital in a public area is unusual - at least here in Ticino: we aimed to create a public space for a hospital where passers-by can find relaxation and patients can interact with the outside world"
Michele Gaggini, Architect
