The future of building: Sustainability meets architecture vision

The LifeCycle Tower ONE (LCT ONE) project in Dornbirn, Austria, is a groundbreaking example of sustainable urban construction. As the world's first non-encapsulated timber hybrid high-rise, it sets new standards in resource efficiency, climate protection, and quality of life. The focus was on integrating the natural building material wood with innovative modular construction – combined with a work environment that prioritizes people. For the client, Cree GmbH and Rhomberg Bau, it was clear: A well-conceived lighting solution needed to reflect this pioneering vision.

Systematic lighting solution: efficiency, comfort, and well-being

The intelligent lighting design in LCT ONE ensures optimal working conditions and significant energy savings. The combination of natural and artificial light is regulated by the LUXMATE LITENET lighting management system from Zumtobel. The seamless transition between direct and indirect lighting enhances the well-being of users. Targeted controls simultaneously ensure that only the necessary amount of artificial light is used – a genuine contribution to reducing energy costs and CO₂ emissions.

Bright, modern space with ample natural light from large windows, combined with linear ceiling lighting as a lighting solution; the light wood and glass furnishings create an open, welcoming atmosphere.

Adaptive light: Top quality for innovative work environments

Top light quality meets maximum adaptability: The LCT ONE features ONLITE emergency lighting solutions and individually controllable workplace luminaires, among other things. The luminaires integrate subtly into modern architecture and can be flexibly adjusted according to room usage – whether in open-plan offices or when transforming a meeting room into a single office. This modular lighting concept meets the adaptable requirements of an innovative work environment.

Technology & Sustainability: Automated with Foresight

The future needs technology – with a clear focus on the environment and user needs. The use of a central sky scanner for controlling blinds and light intensity results in energy savings of up to 75%. Although highly automated, the system simultaneously offers room for individual adjustments. This creates a smart lighting solution that is not only aesthetically pleasing and safe, but also ecologically convincing.
Reception area featuring abundant wood and glass, with daylight streaming through large windows. Round ceiling lights enhance the lighting design, creating a bright and welcoming atmosphere.

The LifeCycle Tower ONE in Dornbirn is more than just a building – it is a pioneering project that is paving the way for the future of urban construction. As the world's first non-encapsulated timber hybrid high-rise, it is setting new benchmarks in sustainability, resource efficiency, and quality of life. With an innovative lighting solution that reduces power consumption while simultaneously enhancing user well-being, the LCT ONE offers both forward-thinking architecture and significant profitability for its operators.
