Trend-conscious shopping experience for Generation Z.

The Spanish fashion brand Bershka, part of the Inditex Group, targets a young, digitally-connected audience. A new lighting concept needed be implemented for the flagship store in Barcelona, as well as in other stores in Frankfurt and London, combining energy efficiency with atmospheric staging for modern fashion. The challenge was to preserve the existing lighting concept while transitioning to LED technology to ensure sustainability, reduced operating costs, and ensure accurate colour representation of the products.

Intelligent lighting concept for impactful brand staging

Zumtobel developed a comprehensive LED lighting solution that seamlessly integrates into the modern interior design of Bershka stores. The requirements: uniform illumination, accentuated presentation of garments, and clear separation between the women's and men's sections through the use of different light colours and luminaire housing colours. Plus, power consumption was simultaneously reduced by up to 35% without making any compromises on light quality.

Light as an interior design component – uniquely staged for fashion and space

Powerful IYON LED spotlights amongst others were used, which are ideal for showcasing fashion due to their excellent colour rendering and flexible alignment. In the changing rooms, PANOS infinity downlights create a pleasant and homogeneous lighting ambiance. The white variant of the luminaires in the women's section and the black version for the men's area emphasise the design diversity – making the lighting solution a crucial component of the interior concept.

Sustainable technology instead of standard solutions

Instead of standard lighting, Zumtobel chose an energy-efficient complete LED solution that meets the requirements of young target audiences and aligns with modern brand management. The luminaires stand out as a result of their durability, low maintenance requirements, and a reduced carbon footprint. Individual adaptations to colour, orientation, and installation method demonstrated that high design flexibility and sustainability can be achieved even without a fully customised special solution.
