The Alpsteeblick Retirement and Care Centre in Switzerland features an innovative lighting concept designed to create a homely atmosphere for its residents. Daylight-flooded rooms, combined with intelligent lighting, enhance both well-being and a sense of community. Zumtobel and Reflexion AG Zürich developed a solution that adapts to the daily rhythm of people.
Biological lighting helps find the right rhythm
Light regulates our internal clock – which is particularly crucial for the elderly and dementia patients. At Alpsteeblick, lighting attuned to daylight supports the natural biorhythm. If there is insufficient daylight, artificial light compensates for the deficit and helps residents to better orientate themselves.
Special moments require flexible lighting solutions
The large multi-purpose room adapts to any event – whether it is a church service, celebration, or lecture. At the touch of a button, the lighting is transformed and sets the appropriate ambiance. The lighting concept at Alpsteeblick proves it: The environment should adapt to people, not vice versa.
Dynamic lighting – during the day and at night.
The CIELOS luminaires with tunable white technology switch between activating, bluish light during the day and calming, warm light in the evening. This enhances the residents' sleep and assists the nursing staff during the night. The lighting control creates a harmonious atmosphere, tailored to the specific needs.
A canopy of light for those in need of care
In the care home oasis, bed-bound residents receive a simulation of natural light through large-scale light ceilings. The gentle transitions between day and night create a soothing environment. ONDARIA luminaires in communal spaces further enhance well-being and give the rooms a cozy atmosphere.
