Light lines as a luminous landmark of Innsbruck
The Bergisel Ski Jump is not only a sporting Mecca, but also an architectural masterpiece by the late star architect Zaha Hadid. Thanks to an innovative lighting solution from Zumtobel, the spectacular shape of the ski jump is perfectly showcased. As part of a comprehensive modernisation, outdated RGB fluorescent tubes were replaced with state-of-the-art, colour-changing LED luminaires, which are energy-efficient, durable and a perfect fit for the unique architecture.
LED luminaires with colour change
As soon as dusk sets in, the light show begins: 79 controllable LED moisture-proof luminaires with protection class IP66 illuminate the ski jump in fascinating colours. By default, the lighting changes colour every ten minutes, while it switches off automatically at midnight to avoid light pollution. The ski jump is currently lit up in the colours of the Ukrainian flag as a sign of solidarity, but 20 other flag colour combinations have been programmed for competitions to showcase the teams of their nations.
Perfect balance of aesthetics and sustainability
In addition to the ski jump, the Bergisel Sky panoramic restaurant also got a new look. Subtle lighting effects by Zumtobel create an elegant atmosphere without obstructing the stunning view of the Tyrolean Alps. Thanks to LED technology, power consumption was reduced by 50 percent, proving that spectacular lighting and sustainability can go hand in hand.

With intelligent control and custom lighting effects, this iconic structure is not only a visual highlight, but also sets new standards in terms of energy efficiency and environmental awareness.
