History in a new light

In 2001, the initial concept emerged not only to renovate the historic building but also to reconceptualise it as a museum. For over two decades, the concept was shaped through planning, discarding, and redesigning, driven by great passion and a desire to honour both the building’s history and the future of the museum landscape. The challenge was to preserve a heritage-protected structure while simultaneously creating space for modern exhibition technology.

Redesigning the lighting solutions

By combining SUPERSYSTEM II spotlights with custom-designed ring lights, a dynamic lighting concept was created that dramatically enhances both the architecture and the artworks. Historical rooms now shine in a new light without losing their character – a blend of old and new that captivates visitors.

A masterful lighting solution for unique conditions

The execution of the project was marked by a tight schedule, strict heritage protection regulations, and numerous special requirements. However, through precise planning, detailed visualisations, and a well-coordinated team, these challenges were successfully overcome. Every step was attuned to respect the historical heritage while creating a modern museum experience. In 2025, the Cavazzen City Museum opened its doors — as a symbol of the successful interplay between tradition and innovation.
